“Concours Trailer-Queen”

The 428 Super Cobra Jet and the Boss 429 are the rarest of the 1969 Mustangs. The 428 Cobra Jet was a huge success for Ford, both on-track and on the showroom floor, with the option continued for 1969 and 1970. Further developments included functional Ram Air cold-air induction with a through-the-hood Shaker scoop. The 428 Super Cobra Jet upped the ante with heavy-duty internals including a stronger crankshaft and Le Mans connecting rods, plus a specific flywheel and counterweight, as well as a crankshaft harmonic balancer. For the truly committed, the Drag Pack option included an engine-oil cooler and automatically kicked in when 3.91:1 or 4.30:1 rear-end gears were selected from the Mustang’s many factory-available options.

Accompanied by a Marti Report confirming its original details, our Mustang SCJ with it´s configuration is one of only five (5) built 1969 Mach 1, which was delivered to Mullins Ford dealership located in Richlands, VA. An all-out, ‘R-Code’ 428 SCJ-powered example, this Mach 1 is highly equipped with further performance options including a Top loader four-speed, close-ratio manual transmission, and Drag Pack including a 3.91:1 Traction-Lok 9-inch rear end and engine-oil cooler. Other original items included a power steering, power front disc brakes, an optional AM/8-Track Stereo, Black Clarion Knit/Vinyl Mach 1 Hi-Back bucket seats, a Rim-Blow Deluxe steering wheel, interior wood grain highlights, a standard rear seat, and Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires.

Moreover and important, our Mustang was carefully restored for MCA Judging over a four-year period, attaining the Gold Status Trailered Division Award in earlier 2013. As one of the hottest Mustangs – and American factory ‘supercars’ – ever built, this R-Code, four-speed 1969 Mustang Mach 1 simply ticks all the boxes for a great muscle car investment and is most probably the best “Concours Trailer-Queen” to find in Europe.

Considering an international valuations report of Hagerty,  our Mustang Mach 1 SCJ qualifies for condition #1 or concours standard called;
Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best vehicle, in the right colours, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is “concours.” – valuated Jan. 2023 at USD 170.000,-.
