7-speed sequential M gearbox (SMG)
Launched in 2004, the E60 M5 introduced groundbreaking performance with its naturally aspirated V10 engine and 7-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox), drawing direct inspiration from BMW's Formula One program. It was the first production saloon in the world to feature a V10 petrol engine.
Under the hood lies the BMW S85, a 5.0L (305 cu in) V10 producing 373 kW (507 PS / 500 hp) at 7,750 rpm and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque at 6,100 rpm. This engine was used exclusively in the E60 M5 and the E63/E64 M6 and was not derived from any existing BMW powerplant.
Officially, the E60 M5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds, though various independent tests have clocked it as quick as 4.1 seconds. At the time of its debut, it was the fastest four-door saloon on the market. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), but with the optional M Driver’s Package, it can reach up to 305 km/h (190 mph). It recorded a Nürburgring lap time of 8:13.
Our example is a one-owner car, actually the first E60 M5 registered in Spain. Fully equipped with all available options of the time, it has just 86,000 km, making it a genuine low-mileage car, comparing him to others offered in Europe. This M5 has been meticulously serviced at official and specialist BMW workshops and is now available for viewing in our showroom in Estepona.
