The FJ40 model achieved legendary status for both the FJ vehicle line and the robust F engine it featured. Its initial production commenced in 1960, introducing a short wheelbase variant to the market. The FJ40 remained in production until 1984, offering customers the choice of a soft top or a hard top.

Despite its relative simplicity in terms of creature comforts, the FJ40 garnered global attention and loyalty from buyers owing to its exceptional reliability, ruggedness, and impressive off-road capabilities.

From 1955 to 1974, the Type F engine played a pivotal role in cementing the FJ's reputation. While not the most fuel-efficient, it was virtually indestructible, known to effortlessly endure 500,000 to 600,000 miles without issues. This 3.9-liter naturally aspirated, inline six-cylinder engine was intentionally designed to share similarities with Chevrolet's Stovebolt 235 engine but underwent enhancements to better suit the specific needs of the FJ model.

Our FJ presents itself as a well-maintained vehicle with a straight and solid body, boasting good panel fit and a thoroughly cleaned undercarriage. He has been resprayed in 2020 in Toyota Land Cruiser Sahara Tan from that time. He is equipped with a 3.9-liter in-line six-cylinder engine, a 3-speed manual transmission, and a dependable 4x4 wheel drive system, all of which operate smoothly. The odometer indicates around 89,500 kilometres. Our FJ has steel doors, a purpose made Bikini-top and please note; no soft-top or hard-top.

These FJs enjoy a devoted fanbase among enthusiasts. Whether you're an off-roading enthusiast or just seeking an exciting weekend vehicle, this model could prove to be a worthwhile addition to your collection.

While the FJ runs and drives well, it's important to note that it may have some non-original or incorrect parts. It may not be suitable for daily use, but it is certainly ready for extended journeys without major concerns. Its appearance is free from obvious visual flaws. At Coast Classics, we would describe its condition as "Good".
