Considered by many to be the quintessential British Sports Car, the Jaguar E-Type’s unveiling in 1961 caused a sensation both with the press and in the public eye. Admirers came from all walks of life; even Enzo Ferrari referred to it as “the most beautiful car ever made”. Beneath its gorgeous looks was a revolutionary sports car with rack and pinion steering, fully independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes with inward rear rotors. All of this was propelled by the already proven performance of the XK engine. The Series II E-Type was released in 1968 and continued the trend of strong performance and handling mated with an iconic shape. Improvements were plentiful and included an increased grille opening to aid in cooling as well as a more refined interior that satisfied even the sportiest of drivers. All Series II E-types featured the larger 4.2 litre engine, which was good for over 240hp. The Jaguar E-Type II convertible is according to many the best running version of the E Type series. With further refinements, proven performance and stylish lines, it is no wonder why examples have become highly sought-after by classic Jaguar collectors and enthusiasts.

Our convertible was built in 1968, delivered to the US new in 1969, returned to the UK in 2015 and body-off restored only some years ago. Our beauty is painted in Jaguar Black combined with an Opalescent Maroon leather interior and chrome wire wheels. Furthermore, this iconic E-Type is powered by his matching 4.2Ltr. 6-cylinder engine in combination with the 4-speed manual gearbox.

The engine was overhauled back in the US and completely revised in the UK by Peter Bracewell, who is an Ex BRM Formula 1 mechanic. It has ISKY racing cams, correct European spec. triple SU carbs and manifold, six branch extractor manifolds into straight through twin exhaust pipes and mapped electronic ignition (123).

It was tuned at Northampton Motorsport Ltd on their rolling road. The output was the 2nd most powerful SU carved XK engine that they had on their records. The interior was done by BAS International who specialises in Jaguar interiors and soft tops.

In summary, you are looking at one of the most striking series 2 E-Type currently available in Europe.
